Walkthrough (Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town)

Houses

In Friends of Mineral Town, you can have not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 houses! There are things that you can only do in certain houses. If you sleep in a house that isn't your farm house, then you will have to enter and exit your farm house to see if any people were supposed to be waiting outside. The requirements for some of them are plain outrageous, but if you are dedicated enough, or choose the easy way to get some of them, then you will be able to have four houses to live in. Here are the requirements:

Farm House

The farm house is a tiny place that you start out in. You are able to get 2 extensions for it. You can do the most in this house, like cooking and going to the bathroom.

Town House

This house is for the people who are 10% harvest moon fan, 5% dedicated, and 85% crazy. You will be playing for a long time if you want this house, because it costs you 100 million g and 999 wood for Gotz to build it (what a greedy man)! It occupies the empty lot that is next to Saibara's house.

Seaside Cottage

After connecting Friends of Mineral Town with A Wonderful Life, you will get this. It is located at the beach. There isn't anything terrible special about this house, but if you want to do everything possible in this game, then you need to get this house.

Mountain Cottage

When you are married to your wife for 50 years, she will give you a house on the mountains as an anniversary present. How sweet!

Energy

You really need to watch out for your energy in this game; you need it to use your tools. The more energy you have, the more you can use your tools without passing out. Here are ways to keep your energy up:

• Going to sleep (the easiest and the best way)
• Eating most foods and medicines
• Taking a bath in your house or in the hot springs

Your energy is split into two parts. They're called stamina and fatigue. The energy goes down first (in most cases). The only times when fatigue will go down first is when you are working in the rain and when it is past 10 P.M. Your stamina will be used up first in the rain if you eat the Kappa Berry, but there is no way to stop your fatigue from being used up first after 10 P.M. You can increase your stamina by finding Power Berries, but you can't raise your fatigue. You start out with 150 stamina and 100 fatigue. There are 10 Power Berries in all and each of them raise 10 stamina each, so if you get them all, you will have a grand total of 250 stamina.

Your character will show signs of getting tired when he hits a certain percentage of energy that's left. Here are the signs of him being tired and what percentage of stamina/fatigue he is at:

• The first sign of stamina loss is when your character grabs a handkerchief and starts rubbing some sweat off. This means that he has only fifty percent worth of energy left.
• The second sign is when he takes a deep breath. This means that he only has twenty percent of stamina left.
• The third sign is when he sits on the ground. This means that you only have five percent of your stamina left.
• The fourth sign is when he turns a slight shade of blue and falls to the ground which means that you don't have any of your stamina left.

You are still able to work even if you have no more stamina; your fatigue kicks in. Here are the two signs that show his fatigue meter:

• Your character shakes his head which indicates that he has fifty percent of his fatigue points left.
• The last sign is when he turns blue. Once he does eat food, go to sleep, or go in the hot springs as soon as possible, because this is the stage where he is about to pass out.

Some foods you shouldn't eat are the poison mushroom and red grass, because they will decrease your stamina/fatigue meters.

Kappa Berry

There is a special berry that you can get in the game called the Kappa berry. It doesn’t raise your stamina or fatigue, but it prevents you from gaining fatigue when it is raining unless you use up all of your stamina. You get this by throwing in a cucumber in the lake where the winter mine is for 10 days. He will give you the berry afterwards hoping that you will leave him alone. Now that you get the berry, he becomes pretty useless though so chances are you will leave him alone. ;)

Wedding

The Wedding

If you propose to a girl and she accepts, she will come to your house and a cut scene will start. On the next Sunday, you will have your wedding. It takes up the whole day so you might want to hire the harvest sprites the day before (which is unknown to whether it works or not). You might just have to live with unhappy animals.

After The Wedding

On the day after your wedding, your wife asks if you want her to call you a name like 'honey'. You have the option to have her just keep saying your name. Be careful, because once you tell her what to call you, she will call you that for the rest of the game. She will then ask you if you want her to keep working. If you say yes, then you'll see her at wherever she usually works almost everyday. If you say no, then she will either just walk around the table or be at your little kitchen all day long.

Note: Elli and Mary will keep working at wherever they work no matter what you say to them.

Changed and Gained Festivals

Some of the ways you celebrate certain festivals will change after marriage. Some festivals will be added also. Here is a list:

• Fireworks: Your wife will watch the fireworks with you. There isn't much change in this event. Probably the only difference I can think of is that you don't have to talk with everyone to start the event. You only have to talk with your wife.
• Thanksgiving: Instead of receiving gifts from other girls, you won't receive anything at all. It isn't as bad as it seems, because your wife will make some chocolate cake when you're asleep and puts it in your rucksack.
• Wedding Anniversary: Every year when it is the day that you and your wife got married, your wife will be waiting for you in the morning. She will ask you what day it is today. If you get it correct, your wife will give you a gift. Once you answer you can eat the food that your wife prepared for you.

Your Son

Note: you will only have 1 kid

After about a season of being married, your wife will say that she's not feeling very well. You take her to the clinic and find out that she is going to have a baby! You then have to wait for 60 days before the baby's born. She'll do her normal stuff for the 60 days. On the day he is born, you end up having a little scene then go to bed without any chance to do your farm work.

At his first stage, your wife will carry him. He is boring at this time. When she goes to work the baby will be sleeping.

After 60 more days, your wife will wake you up in the morning to tell you that the baby is on the ground. Your baby is unhappy and crying. You get 2 choices. They are to take him to the clinic, or to say that he'll be fine. If you want to make the right choice then you would say to take him to the clinic. After you get back home, you see that your baby can crawl!

Once the little baby starts crawling, you can give him gifts to make him happy. He likes cakes, recipes with milk, cheese, yarn, honey and much more.
