About

Bokujou Monogatari I/EZ/J was a network game provided to cellular devices which used the iMODE[1], EZWeb, and Vodafone[2] service providers. The game was published by Square Enix's mobile games division beginning service on April 21, 2003, and ending service on May 12, 2005. It is a brand new title which follows the events of post-game Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (牧場物語 ミネラルタウンのなかまたち).[3] The game's focus was on player connections and farming, unlike Friends of Mineral Town. Players were able to list their produced items in a "Farmer's Market" system to connect and trade with other users.

Collaboration Events

Mother Farm Cow Festival

The『牧場物語i』✕『マザー牧場』(Bokujou Monogatari i and Mother Farm) collaboration event was held from July 14, 2003, to August 15, 2003.[4]
Mother Farm, located in Chiba Prefecture[5], held a tie-in event via an in-game festival contest. During the event period, players could compete and cooperate with others via the network service to gain rankings on the event leaderboard. For the duration of the event period, a "Mother Farm Festival" was held every two weeks. At the festival, players could interact with Mother Farm's milking cows. Players could give the cows their own vegetables or fodder which were tallied by the amount eaten. Players who came in 1st place on their leaderboard were awarded admission tickets to Mother Farm. Top place rankers (specific ranks unknown) were awarded a plush toy of Mother Farm's mascot "マーモくん" (Maamo-kun).

Connecting from A Wonderful Life

Players who owned a copy of the Japanese version of A Wonderful Life were able to obtain a password from the game to put into 『牧場物語i』. Those players were able to experience an event to celebrate their departure from Forgotten Valley.[6]

    Japanese Text:

    モバイルタウンズへようこそ!
    『牧場物語ワンダフルライフ』
    発売記念にわすれ谷から来た
    皆さんだけのお楽しみを用意
    したよ。

    English Text:

    "Welcome to the Mobile Towns!
    [Bokujou Monogatari: A Wonderful Life]
To celebrate the launch of 『牧場物語i』
we have prepared a fun event for everyone departing Forgotten Valley."

  • A Wonderful Life Password
There is a line of text which exists in the Japanese version of A Wonderful Life alluding to 『牧場物語i』-- It is only found in Rock's message data, and the text was changed in the western release of the game.
    JP Ver. Text:

    ケータイ版牧場物語にて
    ちょっとだけサービス中!
    モバイルタウンズのとある場所で
    ボクの名前を伝えてみてね!

    EN Ver. Text:

    Have you played
    Harvest Moon: Friends
    of Mineral Town?

The translation of the JP version line specifically tells the reader "At a certain place in the Mobile Towns, give them my name!" While not confirmed, it is possible that the secret password is ロック, Rock's name in Katakana. However, this will likely remain unconfirmed as access is lost.
※A Dengeki article discussing the mail-in gift campaign for a plush Mukumuku also mentions the iMODE AWL tie-in event.[7]
You can get 5 lottery tickets by entering a "secret word" obtained after meeting a specific condition (possibly linking Friends of Mineral Town to A Wonderful Life). The prizes included rare flower seeds and also a bicycle. Whether or not these prizes are real world or in-game items is not known.
